Since 1978, the WBHNRC has fought for Bronx tenants by providing them with a vast array of housing resources including eviction prevention and foreclosure services. Their mission is to preserve housing in the west Bronx for the residents of our community by helping families to stay in their homes, improving their quality of life, and preventing neighborhood deterioration.
Access to affordable and well-maintained housing is one of the most critical issues faced by constituents in Senator Rivera’s district. WBHNRC’s monthly housing clinics are a critical component of Senator Rivera and his team’s efforts to support constituents with eviction prevention and understanding the housing court process, which empowers them to advocate for themselves. In 2024, the WBHNRC helped more than 600 residents of Senator Rivera’s district.
“I’m incredibly proud of the $100,000 that I secured for the West Bronx Housing and Neighborhood Resource Center’s exceptional housing services," said State Senator Gustavo Rivera. “With the cost of housing rising uncontrollably, this funding will strengthen WBHNRC’s operations, which in turn, will ensure that countless tenants in our community receive the housing resources and services necessary to stay in their homes and in our communities. I want to thank Executive Director Joshua Stephenson for his advocacy and partnership in this process.”
"Senator Rivera's generous allocation of $100,000 to West Bronx Housing is a reflection of his commitment to preventing evictions and supporting tenants in the West Bronx. With this funding, West Bronx Housing is better situated to continue our work to help keep Bronx affordable for the people who make their homes in our community. Along with the thousands of tenants we work with each year, we are tremendously grateful to Senator Rivera as a champion of Bronxites struggling to keep a roof over their heads."
